Formation Process

How long does it take to start a nonprofit?

Formation time varies by state and the IRS process. Typically, state formation can be completed within 3 to 7 business days and 501(c)(3) approval within 2 to 4 months for the short form application (1023 EZ) and 7 to 9 months for the long form application (1023 Form) to the IRS.
